GSK Promotes Adult Vaccination with Club VIP
GlaxoSmithKline Philippines (GSK) recently launched Club V.I.P, a comprehensive health and wellness program advocacy that seeks to promote health and wellness through adult vaccination.
Club V.I.P, which stands for Vaccinate, Immunize and Protect, advocates the proactive vaccination of Filipinos of all ages to prevent the incidence and spread of otherwise preventable diseases. It invites various partners from the academe, corporations, NGOs, and the government to adopt the program advocacy to protect their respective organizations.
Institutions who willthat join Club VIP can benefit from GSK’s disease awareness program, which include lay lectures and educational materials for their employees. GSK will also help members in planning and organizing a customized vaccination preventive healthcare program for them as well as help in the actual administration by supplying the necessary vaccines., in partnership with their company physicians or healthworkers.
GSK Philippines president and managing director, Roberto C. Taboada, said implementing a vaccination preventive healthcare program is a sound choice for institutions as preventing the sickness, as the old adage says, is better than cure. “It ensures a healthy environment among students and employees and spares you from worrying about spending on treatment. Fewer sicknesses logically translate to higher productivity among workers which benefits the company down the line,” says Mr. Taboada.
At the recent launch, the University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines-Manila, Globe Telecom and the local government of Muntinlupa shared their experiences and showcased best practices in implementing their respective adult vaccination programs.
Mr. Taboada says the company is looking forward to partnering with more institutions – those who already have existing programs as well as those who are planning to start one. “GSK’s mission is to help people do more, feel better, and live longer. With Club VIP, we hope to encourage more partners to be more proactive in protecting the health of their most important assets – their people.” he adds.
As one of the world’s leading vaccines manufacturer, GSK has one of the strongest vaccine pipelines in the industry with over 20 vaccines in clinical development. The company offers their unique expertise in antigen and adjuvant system technology for prevention of cervical cancer, flu, meningococcal disease, chickenpox, typhoid fever, hepatitis-B, and other diseases.
